Are postcard reminders a good idea?

For many service oriented businesses, getting people to return to the business again and again is the key to success. While you can call people to remind them about upcoming pet vaccinations or oil changes, it can be quite costly and frustrating to do so. You’ll irritate some people, upset others and be unable to reach still more. On top of that, you’ll be using valuable staff time, because someone has to actually look up the number, dial it, wait for a person or machine to pick up and give the message. Postcard reminders are a great tool for keeping customers and are usually much less time consuming.

To effectively send postcard reminders to your customers, you should:

  1. Automate the process as much as possible. If you have good computer software to manage your business, you should be able to print address labels for those customers who need a reminder with a few clicks of the mouse.
  2. Create a very generic postcard message to avoid having to write a lot of information on cards. A blank space for a pet’s name or the type of car is a nice option, but the more personalization you provide, the more time you will use.
